Against the background of a turnaround in the energy system, technological and economic solutions are being developed within the framework of the four "Kopernikus Projects for the Energy Turnaround". The Kopernikus projects are concerned both with the storage and conversion of energy and with the development of the power grid. The focus of the Kopernikus project "Power-to-X" is the use and storage of renewable energies. Aiming at an overall concept for the integration of renewable energies beyond the renewable electricity sector into the fuel and energy sector, renewable electricity is first electrocatalytically converted into hydrogen, carbon monoxide or synthesis gas from industrial processes or from the air and converted into tailor-made fuels, plastics and chemical products.
